Ā
In the yearĀ 1979, Japanese electronics engineerĀ Susumu TamuraĀ unknowingly started a sonic revolution.Ā
Seeking to create a circuit to compete with theĀ Boss OD-1, he inadvertently developed a pedal that would go on to become the most copied, cloned and modified guitar effect of all time.
That pedal was theĀ MaxonĀ OD808, which was then rebranded forĀ IbanezĀ as theĀ TS808 Tubescreamer.
Known for its incredible warmth and organic, tube-like quality, the ā808ā quickly became the go-to amp-pushing pedal for countless guitarists around the globe, including a little-known blues player from Texas namedĀ Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Over the past four decades, theĀ 808Ā has taken on a variety of incarnations and launched the careers of many aspiring pedal designers looking to build a better mouse trap.Ā But as the saying goes, there aināt nothing like the real thing.
2019Ā marks the 40thĀ anniversary of the release of this iconic overdrive and to celebrate, Godlyke is releasing aĀ limited-edition OD808Ā model.
Using the current-productionĀ OD808Ā as a launch pad,Ā Mr. TamuraĀ provided specific modifications to the pedalsā circuitry that provide a more open, articulate sound with improved dynamic response.
There will be a limited production ofĀ 400Ā units of theĀ OD808-40, and each will come with a signed certificate of authenticity.Ā In addition, the first 40 units of the pedal will be hand-signed byĀ Mr. TamuraĀ himself.
With it's unique tonal characteristics and undeniableĀ collectible appeal, TheĀ Maxon 40thĀ Anniversary OD808Ā is destined to take its place alongside the legendary pedals it has descended from.
All sales final on Serial Numbers 1-40. No cancellations or returns.
